Local Anesthesia

With Local Anesthesia, the patient remains conscious through the entire procedure. It is administered in the area where the surgery is performed. It can often be used in conjunction with other methods of anesthesia. Local Anesthesia is often used for simple oral surgery procedures as in minor soft tissue procedures or basic tooth extractions. Some patients choose Local Anesthesia when having their wisdom teeth extracted as well.

General Anesthesia

General Anesthesia is only administered by an anesthesiologist in either an oral surgery center, or a hospital. Patients will receive General anesthesia for extensive procedures as in jaw or face reconstruction surgery. Patients with medical history or condition of heart or lung disease will be required to use General Anesthesia when undergoing these procedures.
